Whitelands Park - London

This residential scheme is the redevelopment of the former Whitelands Park, part of Roehampton University, and its existing college grounds. The centre of the sloping site is dominated by a Giles Gilbert Scott-designed, listed former college building. The scheme provides 400 housing units comprising both new housing, converted accommodation in the listed building and a retained area of former student accommodation.

The considerable number of protected trees enhance the mature setting of the well-maintained site which is of significant scale. PLACE’s landscape scheme reinforces the formal terraces of the grounds and uses them effectively, with water features and a formal axis giving strong linear views across the site.
