We are setting out on an adventure …
Can we create and nurture our own landscape? A place that we learn from, that benefits people and biodiversity?
For over 15 years we have been designing and creating amazing landscapes for other people. But when our work is complete and we hand them over, we lose our connection to these places and rarely stay involved. We don’t get to watch, nurture and learn from them longer term.
We know the benefits that extending our involvement can bring.
Green Park in Reading is a landscape our team has been involved with since day one in 1989! This has allowed us to design, build and now manage the landscape from inception through to maturity today. We have learnt so much in the process, benefitting both our team, our client, the park and its users.
Our vision: We want to create a landscape that is ours, now and for the future. A test bed and training ground for landscape professionals, for the local community to explore and enjoy, that benefits local biodiversity.
To get there, we’re dreaming big but starting small…
Step 1: a PLACE to Learn
Six times a year we set aside a day dedicated to learning and professional development. These days out provide valuable opportunities for us to broaden our knowledge and skills. Our learning sessions may include visits to inspiring landscapes, exhibitions, plant nurseries or fabricators, the choice is led by the interests of the team.
Step 2: Micro spaces [next five years]
We will reach out to local community partners and offer our help and expertise to enhance public spaces. We hope we can make a positive contribution to our local neighbourhood, whilst experimenting with new techniques and learning as a team.
Step 3: Macro space [next ten years]
Own and develop our own landscape. We will buy the land, develop, protect and share this place with the local community and other landscape professionals. A place to learn and relax, that benefits biodiversity and people for years to come.
