The Gantry Hotel, Stratford, London

PLACE prepared design proposals for The Gantry, East London.  The site comprises two separate hotels, the first being the Curio Collection Hotel by the Hilton group and the second being the Adagio aparthotel in East London.

The Hilton Curio Collection hotel has 291 rooms with a ground floor coffee shop, first  floor restaurant and all day lounge, roof top bar and terrace and a fitness centre.

The Adagio has 100 two person studios and 36 flats with a private gym, a small on-site convenience store and a shared living space.

The hotels include a series of high quality podium terraces for public access with the landscape proposals designed to complement and enhance the architectural character of the building.

On the 19th floor two south facing sky bar terraces have been designed to offer flexibility for different functions, with free standing furniture and moveable planters.

The lower terrace landscape aims to create a tranquil place that reflects the changing seasons with a woodland style character to the west within a buffer zone changing to more sculptural defined planting with larger specimen shrubs and climbing plants integrating the spaces.

A biodiverse roof has been created which enhances the local ecology.
