Sherwood Close - Ealing, London

Appointed to provide site planning and landscape design for the regeneration of a housing estate in west Ealing, PLACE’s scheme not only transforms the estate with new homes for local residents but also uses the development as a catalyst to continue growing the physical, social and economic regeneration of the area.

The new landscape scheme is designed to create a thriving neighbourhood, with tree-lined avenues, communal gardens, play areas and private amenity spaces. New pedestrian links have been created to improve connections to transport and shopping facilities. The proposals also maximise the value of the roofscape, with garden terraces, mini allotments and biodiverse areas specifically targeting locally important bird and invertebrate species. Resilient planting and robust materials have been specified to ensure that on-going maintenance does not become burdensome or over complicated for the client, while a playful bench frames the dynamic landscape while providing a playful seating edge
