LIDL HQ - Tolworth
LIDL GmbH Ltd appointed PLACE to provide the landscape design associated with its proposed new UK headquarters at Tolworth, Kingston. The site adjoining Tolworth railway station is bounded by diverse uses, including metropolitan open land (MOL), and a cement batching plant, with the expectation of CrossRail 2 modifying the northern boundary in place of the cement plant.
The design provides a sensitive integration of the six-storey office building to accommodate 750 staff, with car parking for 445 cars, staff amenity areas, high quality entrance, natural swale, “green corridor” leading through a multi-storey car park and perimeter trees of value retained to integrate the development into the townscape. The site is a constrained site, with part of the site within Metropolitan Open Land (MOL).
