Clay Farm - Cambridge

Clay Farm North is a residential development on a 5.3 hectare site near Cambridge. Appointed as landscape architects PLACE designed a central park, community greens and courtyard gardens within the new, 273 unit residential neighbourhood. The park design plays with the flatness of the existing site with dynamic natural stone lawn edges rising out of the level ground.

New landforms are pushed and moulded to create water pools in the centre of the park and act as a setting for children’s play with rolling terrain and play equipment. A series of large English Oak trees helps guide people through the site and Maple trees have been chosen to add seasonal interest, with a rich flame colour in autumn, along pedestrian routes through the park and across the greens.
