Aloft Hotel, Excel

A unique urban landscape has been created by PLACE as part of a new hotel development at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, in the heart of London’s Docklands. The hotel drop-off and porte cochere have been re-imagined as a dynamic urban plaza. To one side a water cascade falls six metres down a glittering woven steel curtain into a reflecting pool, linking the plaza with the upper dining terrace and entrance to the ExCeL Centre.
The materials used and linear patternation have been designed in close collaboration with the architects, drawing the plaza through to the lush restaurant gardens which extend along the southern facade of the hotel.
